Januvasti is a Sanskrit word where janu implies knee and vasti means to hold something. Januvasti is basically the essential treatment prescribed by Ayurveda to ease pain in the knee joints.
It includes herbal oils which have been warmed and afterward put away in compartments produced using black gram flour. These are put directly on the knee region.
How Januvasti Works?
Januvasti works through Sweda (sweating) and falls under the Panchakarma class of medicines. Sweda is finished with the assistance of warmed herbal oils held in a compartment produced using dark gram flour around the impacted knee cap(s). This assists with easing the pain. After this technique, a light Abhyanga (rub) is done on the patient. Januvasti is done in the first part of the day if kapha dosha is prevailing (neck solidness), in the early afternoon if pitta prevails (consuming sensations or aggravation), and if vata (pain) is predominant the treatment is performed in the evening. The oils utilized in Januvasti and in the light Abhyanga are Ksheerabala tailam, Mahanarayana tailam, Mahamasha tailam, Kottamchukkadi tailam, Balashwagandhadi tailam, Ashwagandhabalalakshadi tailam, Sahacharadi tailam, Murivenna, Pinda tailam, Tiktaka ghritam, Guggulutiktaka ghritam, and Til tailam (sesame oil).
